My whisper lid won't stay on! Ughh
I have had my whisper lid for about 2 weeks and evertime I pop the hood both the clamps have unclipped themselves and a couple times the rear has popped out of the slots, I have a K&N filter under it, no foam gasket in the lid. What's going on? i'm afraid one of these days it might suck something up other than air if it keeps coming loose. It seems like one side is not slipping down over the lower box, it's just sitting on the edge.
Oh, I recently removed my EGR, does anyone know who sells those metal engine badges that attach to the front of the block there? i can't remember, but I think they are anodized aluminum custom engraved with the car/engine and number info.

nope, it's the stock bellows, it seems like the lid simply does not fot the lower air box correctly and is putting a lot of tension on the clamps when they are snapped down, in fact, the right side clamp is so tight you can just lightly touch it and it pops loose.

how well did u put the seal on the whisper lid??? my lid sometimes one clip comes loose but just push the lid as far back in those four slots as you can and then push the lid down on the edge not the middle so you dont crack it and then put the clips on and if the clip doesnt want to go down make it go down get a hammer and tap it lightly to make it go down.

try pushing the front of the lid back as far as it goes (so it doesn't hang over or rest on the lower edge)
Those are the badges, I guess they arn't custom engraved...
I just recieved my shifer **** from the same company that makes those plates, nice stuff.

afterthoughts auto has lid badges that have custom hp, torque etc. but i don't think they have anything that attaches to the heads

I'll just have to play with it more, the front seems to sit on the edge I think, i'll have to check, but if it is it's because the left edge doesnt sit down over the lower box, it's almost like the lid is too narrow fit over the lower box.
By the way, I am wanting to install a ported throttle body, and I can't send mine out to new era cuz I need it, my bird is my only car. I've read un on doing it myself but don't really understand what is being done, so I don't wanna do it. I understand cutting the blade shaft and can polish and stuff, but when sanding/grinding the body itself I dont get it all. It seems like your trying to remove metal from the front edge back to the blade but I don't see how you can do it evenly and know when it's enough. Plus those holes in it...
What are my options to get this done?

Yup, same thing here with my TSP 2 years ago. Whenever I got into the gas a little when I checked the lid it had popped off. Trimmed the bellows and it never happened again. Of course it was this forum where I found out I had to trim that crap SLP bellows I got suckered into.

+1 on everything others have said above.
I had the same problem with my Whisper lid, I just wasnt putting it into the right position then when I had the hood poped, had a few other LS1 owners chuckle and show me where it should be vs where I thought it should be.

I had the same problem and had to loosen the four bolts holding the bottom half to the car (you can see them in the pic above) and move the whole thing over about a half inch. Solved my problem.
