Default problems w/ throttle body dissassembly

im taking apart my throttle ody to port and polish it today. ive got the tb off the car and am now taking it apart. it seems as if someone else has attempted to do this bc one of the screws on the shaft is rounded out. how am i suppose to remove the blade and the shaft if this one screw is rounded out? i dont want something this small and stupid to keep me from getting this project done today on my day off.

I had to drill one of mine out then get a replacement. It drills out pretty easy, just go slow.

1) Use a metric allen the next size up from the standard, and whack it to seat it in.

2) Use needlenose vice grips

3) A small chisel to notch it (very lightly tap), and then a flathead to remove it

One of those tricks should work. I'd suggest to dremel a notch, but you won't be getting the disc near the screw with how small the diameter is to work with inside the housing. I work with industrial machines where the majority of the screws/bolts are allen head, so I deal with this every day.

aight does ANYONE have any other ideas on how to get this stupid screw out? i tried grinding a groove into the head of the screw just so i can use a flathead and unscrew it, but that didnt work.

can i go ahead and cut the shaft in half (like you would when you perform the halfshaft mod) while its still in the throttle body? i think thats the only way ill be able to get it out, and i was gonna do the halfshaft anyway.

Sorry it was vague, but yes, straight through the screw. Go slow to get a good start.

i dont have a bit small enough to drill through it, so would it be possible to do the halfshaft mod while the balde and shaft are still in the TB. this will expose the rest of the freakins crew and then it'd come out easy.

Why not go up to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a smaller drill bit? For like $10 you can buy a small kit and be done with this.
