Default Go with true duels or keep my GMMG?

I like the way the GMMG sounds but I have always liked the way dumped spiral flows sound. Last summer I had planned on getting headers and true duels but got discouraged because it seemed like I couldn't save up enough. So after alot of thinking and talking to my parents I decided just to get a catback. The original plan was to get magnaflow, but I heard the GMMG on LS1 sounds and thought it sounded pretty mean. Now that I want to buy headers and need to get a catted y that I was only about $150.00 short of what I originally wanted, and since duels are only about $75.00 short of a tsp catted y I'm wondering if I should just get the duels, and saving the GMMG incase I ever want to go back. Or should I just get a catted y and put duel cut outs infront of the cats? I like to take my car to the track but at this time its my dd so what do you guys think would be in my best interest? Sorry if that was kind of long.

in my opinion i would stick with the gmmg. I have pacesetter headers going into the gmmg and I think it sounds more awesome then any true duels ive heard. You oughta find someone with true duels and headers and see what it sounds like compared to the gmmg with headers. In my opinion, the true duels gets too droney. I would save the money up for the headers and keep the gmmg, you wont be disappointed.

Depends on your emissions. When you say you need cats is it to keep the rasp away or because of the sniffer?

I wish I could hear other ls1 cars, but theres only about 4 in my area and I'm the only one with aftermarket exhaust. I want cats just to keep rasp away. Also would it be okay to have cats without AIR? I only want to get rid of the AIR to have a cleaner engine compartment.

Duals are the best sounding exhaust IMO.

My TD don't have any rasp at all. I have 1 3/4 Lt with a TD X pipe and bullets. For the best all out performance you are not going to beat TD but it sound is what you are after that is another story. Go to ls1sounds.com and give it a try.

Here is a link for you.

it would pointless to give up the GMMG but I'm sure someone would be more then willing to buy it from you. plus it sounds very good. I've quite a few TD and GMMG cars the GMMG has a nice unique sound to it..

Well setup duals sound better and outperform y pipes. It depends a lot on which muffler you use, the spiral flows and single chamber flows sound awesome on duals.

Go to the car domain site in my sig. There are video clips of my car. The one at the very top of the page is a cold start idle. Its the only video except for the dyno-tune ones of the car after the cam install. The rest are pre-cam install. I have a custom true-dual over-axle set up with bullets and high flow cats. I also have Edelbrock LT's and no x or h pipe. There are pics of my exhaust on the site as well.

I posted this same question a while back. Search for something along the lines of GMMG vs. true duals I think. To tell you the truth I still haven't decided which I want to go with either. Good luck though.

i have gmmg, pacesetter's, and tsp ory and it was real raspy in mid rpm's but i bought a dynomax bullet muffler from summit for $40 something and now it has completely no rasp. it sounds amazing. so if u keep the gmmg just buy one of those and get ur headers/ory.

if you go true duals, you'll have no problem finding a buyer for the gmmg.

I went from GMMG to True Duals over the axel mandrel bent.

Well this weekend I am going to the TD's

My vote.. TRUE DUALS.. BUT DO IT RIGHT AND GET MANDREL BENT AND OVER THE AXELS.

Mine cost me 1500 bucks

Go with the GMMG. True duals get to loud for everyday driving. You will get annoyed with them.

true duals arent too loud. It depends on if it is dumped, or over axel and which mufflers you went with.

I know true duals that sound JUST LIKE catbacks.

You are 100% correct. Most that run duals are getting them dumped with glasspack. WHich is barely a muffler. Over the axle with a good muffler will sound good. Just expensive if done right.
