Default LS1 = Bolt on Badass????

Okay McNuggets... I need some help here. Ive got a 2001 WS6 and Ive got some LTs True Duals, SLP lid + KN of course. I was hoping to get 400rwhp or close to it with bolt ons but every other bolt on I look at is like 2hp or 5hp and everyone tells me not to bother, can you guys toss some help my way, has anyone gotten the 400hp number out of bolt ons with an A4?

Not possible on stock cubes. You will need full boltons + a big cam to reach that # with a A4.

Yeah I figured the car would be maxed at around 350-360rwhp with bolt ons.

Automatics dyno less as well, so you won't be one of the higher dynoing bolt-on cars.

297rwhp stock wasnt too bad. Most Ive heard was in the 310-320rwhp area. Also that was on a portable dyno so its not entirely acurate. My friend got 305rwhp out of his full bolt on 2000 Z28, so I dont think Im in a bad starting place.

You should also be considering a stall and gears.

You can make over 400hp with boltons, but not 400rwhp. A ***** out full bolton setup with everything possible AND a tune won't get you there. The highest of high RWHP cars are only making around 35Xrwhp, with these most always being 6-speed cars. Anyone making over 330rwhp from boltons should consider themselves as doing good.

Im goin gears, but I think Im going to avoid stall for a while cause I have to drive it in the snow this year. Next year Im goin stall. Thinkin 75 dry shot to get my 400rwhp magic number, although TSP has a deal on LS6 heads...

It's not all about dyno numbers. An A4 with a loose stall will dyno very low but beat up on M6 cars with more power.

One of my best decisions before modding: 1993 Honda Civic. bought it w/ some minor body damange w/ 97k miles in October of 2004 for $1150. Since then, I've put 40k miles on it already, replaced 2 tires, front rotors + pads, and a slave cyl (easy fix, unlike our ls1's). Do that 1st, and keep your ls1 for the sunny days

You gotta put in a big cam to get to 400 at the wheels... I still gotta go get my car tuned and I hope to get at least 375rwhp....

Yeah bolt-ons can get you in the 360+ running through a M6, A4 always dyno less, but you can add a stall to help with ET's.

Now if you purchase the absolute best parts ie QTP or Kooks with a Fast 90/90 setup, I have seen an M6 car dyno around 370 with a basic tune. It's not cheap but you will see a difference over Pacesetters or LS6 respectivly.

Look into bolt-ons then possibly a cam to reach 400.

I got 360/ 371 RWHP/RWTQ through my A4, with the stall locked. Lid, QTPs-HVMC, cats', open Borla, and tune, basically. I think there was a little left, because the IAT was nearly 110*. I got 354/360 with the standard QTPs and 78* IAT, with the only changes being HVMCs. I don' t think 400 RWHP is possible with a large cam.

Good luck though!!!

I just made the 400 mark this week - take a glance at the mods just in my sig - and that is full bolt-ons - minus an electric waterpump and a Fast set-up
