Default List of 3.5 oval mufflers? (my new true duals)

Wassup...

I am doing 3.5" dual exhaust this year.

I am looking for oval mufflers that are small.

Two suggestions so far are:

Spintech
Flowmaster

Any more ideas?

I have info on a local place that sell oval exhaust for reasonable prices...

I am also kicking around the idea of having both tips exhaust on the passenger side just before the rear tire, but that will limit my muffler options...

This place also sells oval 3" pipe too.

Give me muffla ideas peeps!!!

I just bought a true dual setup. I was thinking of trying to get Dr. Gas Cup style tips to exit the sides of the car. I think it would be , but I'm nuts anyway.

Isn't the borla xr-1's oval mufflers? I am not for sure on that.. but I think that is right.. you might do some research on it.. I think they are expensive also... Spyder

I'll try to investigate the HPS car, but I would guess that they have Spintech mufflers on there...

Here is what I have so far...

Flowmaster part #33408
3.5 inlet/outlet OVAL
3" tall
8" wide
16" long
10" long case
~$125

Spintech part #2991-35
3.5 inlet/outlet OVAL
3" tall
10" wide
14" long
~$145

Flowmaster uses their mufflers on a lot of Busch cars, what do you guys think?

I like how the Flows are smaller.

I am kicking around the idea of doing Nascar style exhaust, and having both mufflers exit on the passenger side before the rear tire... I could just have these mufflers dump at the axle and since that is what I did last time I will give that serious consideration.

I may look into the wide, flat exhaust ends. I think it could really look good. Unique if nothing else.

Flowmaster said that these race mufflers would be louder than the 2 chamber Flows I had on my 69Z. I can take that, anyone used them?

'Bout damn time you step up to a man's size exhaust system instead of ***** footing with wimpy sized pipes for your motor

Flowmasters suck IMHO and sound awful. Go with he Spintech's....they flow better and sound killer.

The HPS car has oval exhaust on it, you might want to contact them and see what they have

I don't think this will happen. They want a couple of hundred $$ for "boom tubes". It may be cheaper to have someone fab a system all the way out the back. Although a side exit would be freakin .

To clarify, I am talking about oval inlet/outlet mufflers, meaning ovalized exhaust pipe not oval mufflers.

John BzztDell these Flowmasters are used on Busch cars... 800 hp. They only have one V deflector is my understanding... The low provile Spintechs only have 3 spin traps instead of the regular 5 for the street mufflers... Anyone else?

I bet the stock Z-28 exhaust tips (ye olde mail slots) would work great for side exit, just cut them at a little bit of an angle to match the body line and touch up the paint..
Viva la clearance!

No go on Borla, I called them and they do not have any oval inlet mufflers.

I'm leaning towards the Flowmaster, but I need to double confirm that these mufflers only have on v-deflector/baffle they should flow pretty well.

Dr Gas may be able to help. I was on the site last night and they were metioning some form of muffling system that they run on Busch cars at tracks where it is an issue. It may be in conjunction with boom tubes. They seem to have the line on oval exhaust equipment.

Thanks, I called Dr Gas and the boomtubes are not mufflers. They have one Boomtube muffler, it's dual inlet, I'd love to have one, but they are $700 each.

A 3.5" oval X pipe setup from them would run ~$500.

That's pricey. I just picked up an x-system off of a guy for $150 . I can't wait to get it in. The Jet-Hot LT's, ORY, and LM are very raspy, loud, but in a lot of ways I like it.
Good luck on your setup. Oval would be cool.

I called Flowmaster again, and the low profile 335408's only have one delta plate or "V" plate. Most of their mufflers have three plates.

PSJ.........EXCUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE me

I thought that you wanted mufflers....a single chamber "V" deflector will be loader than all get out but if you don't mind the noise...go with 'em! Personally I like to listen to the stereo occasionally when driving

John, I'm not mad, are you LOL...

But can you convince me that the Spintech's flow better? The low profile Spintechs have 3 spin traps vs the 5 they normally use.

Both mufflers are about the same size.
