Lid Installation
I ordered a lid from TSP at the same time I ordered my Pacesetter LT's and ORY. I had quite a time installing the headers, mostly due to trying to get the EGR stuff to come off and then having to bend the tubes into place. I should have just removed all that junk, but I thought it would be easier to leave it in. I guess I was wrong. When I went to install the lid, I noticed that it has a roughly 1" diameter rubber tube coming from down around the bottom of the driver side front into the driver side of the airbox lid. My new lid does not have a spot for this tube, so I just stuck it down in the hood somewhere. What should I do with this tube, and what is it's purpose? Thanks.

That is the intake hose for the AIR pump. If you leave the AIR system on you can get the K&N filter for the hose or use a PCV filter from the auto parts store. The filter is for the old style round metal air cleaner housings.

Make sure you don't kink the hose restricting air flow - it'll throw a SES light. Any filter from a parts store will do. If you want to see what one looks like go to K&N's site and search PN 62-1030.

The older cars that don't have the hose plugged into the filter just suck air out from behind the driver side fog light with no filter. It simply injects the air into the exhaust before the cats, so if it sucks in anything, the cats could get clogged easier. I'm sure people were having problems with clogged cats, so they just started pulling air from a filtered source.
I wouldn't worry about having the filter at all due to the fact that it's only on for about 5 minutes after startup then turns off completely.

I guess it's not too critical since I don't have cats anymore...but I just went to the parts store and found something that is supposed to be used for crankcase breathers that I think will suffice. Oh well, it only cost a few dollars.

If you dont have cats anymore it shouldnt matter at all, if im right you should be able to take out that entire hose. I mean places like speed inc sell AIR eliminate kits for like 13 or 14 bucks. The SES light should be on anyway with no more cats unless you got the codes deleted or o2 sims
