Default Do Cutouts Leak?

ok so if you don't already know, i've had my car for about 2 months and it has the SLP dual/dual on it. well, i'm 20 and while i still love the dual/dual, sometimes i just wanna be loud. i will likely be buying a cutout soon. my question is, for all you guys with MANUAL cutouts out there (i will not be purchasing an electric cutout, don't even try to convice me ), does your cutout leak?

the reason why i ask is, if i put my blockoff plate on my cutout, i want it to sound exactly 100% stock. is there any exhaust gases that leak out causing hissing or causing bad rasp because the cutout is making an exhaust leak? i don't want my closed cutout exhaust note to change from OEM.

any experiences would be appreciated. i want bad and good experiences, no flaming out the guys that have had bad ones

BTW, i will be buying the stainless QTP manual cutout from thunder. i see no reason to buy the flowtech one. for 10 bucks more, you may as well get stainless. shoot, my whole exhaust is stainless, why make rust?

Before I broke it, my electric one always leaked a little - no leaks at all (Flowtec) bolting the plate on, just a little more inconvenient.

My QTP electric cutout leaks just a bit where the butterfly is mounted to the motor shaft...only two pin-hole leaks...no big deal.

The cutout will come with gaskets so it doesnt leak. I've only put the cap on once and it did not leak. It sounds exactly how it did before i bought the cutout. Once you put your cutout on you probably wont want to cap it anyway. I kno i dont want mine on at all.

there should be no leaking at all...the gasket and cap seals well. I had to touch up a few welds on my manual QTP cutout because the overseas crappy welds werent complete and you could see light through in 2 places.....small but would have leaked. the area where the pipes merge.

On my old car, the gasket was shitty, so it only leaked if I had the cap on (which I never did). But I've read that a lot of the electric ones leak when closed.

As long as u have gasket and the welding job is good there shouldn't be any leaks IMO

use a good gasket....there is minimal heat by the time exhaust gets there..tighten also..

thanks for the replies. the reason why i ask is i contemplated a cutout on my old car but my friend's brother (owns a shop, been working on cars seeminly forever) says they leak. anyone have the QTP stainless manual cutout? any problems with leaking? how are the gaskets?

the one i speak of is the last item on this page:

Just use the metal gaskets, and its a 100% chance of NO leak !! Thats the gaskets I use on mine, they come with the cutout. I'm thinking of going back to electric now, tired of driving the car up on ramps and crawling under the car! lol

I have the manual QTP stainless cutout, it's very nice quality and doesn't leak at all.

My electric started rattling (and a small leak) after I used it for about 10K miles. I just manually capped it for the first time and I think it leaks a little still. Then again I'm not using a gasket.
