Okay, so I want to change plugs in my 98z. I have tried every angle from the top and the bottom. Is there anyone out there that could help me figure out how to get the socket on the plug, then the driver on the socket, and still have leverage to knock the plug loose? This without removing the exhaust manifold completely. (If I had a lift, I would have disconnected the engine and lifted the damn car off and had it done by now!)

Have you removed the last or last two coil packs yet? Unbolt those bad boys, swing them out of the way, then try to get it. If you're still having trouble, you can unbolt the valve cover after the last 2 coil packs come off (leave the front 2 on) and have an ever better shot at it.

Take the wire off the coial and plug, jack the car up on jackstands. get underneath slips the socket on ( there is enough room if you have small hands) then get the driver up there and get to it, there isnt much room but it CAN be done. Also if you can get the driver on the socket from the bottom. If you have a friend its easier for someone to break the plug loose while wrenching from the top while you make sure that the wrench stays on it.

Thanks, I tried it from the bottom on jack stands. The manifold is in the way. With a small extension on the ratchet there is no room, and with no extension the ratchet cannot get around the manifold. I think I might try it from the passenger seat.

I love how so many give up, wait until they have long tubes, change all but #8, etc. Geez!! Why don't you take it to Pep-boys while you're at it!
