Default LT's/TD's - rasp from 2700-3000 RPM

I know that no car/engine is going to be truly rasp free, but even going through at about quarter throttle, the car sounds great, great, 2700-3000 RPM RASP RASP RASP and it sounds awesome again about 3200 RPM.

What's the deal there? Do i have one too many leaks, or exhaust hung too tight?

Setup is Pacesetters with 2.5" True duals and 1 chambers. haven't installed X/H yet.

Put in the x/h or whatever merge you're going to use.....rasp will be gone.

Hmmm...It must be because you're not using a cross-over pipe...

I have a stock internal LS1 with Kooks 1 3/4" LT's, no cats, 3" H-pipe, & a pair of Flowmaster 1-chambers dumped before the axle and there isn't the slightest bit of rasp in that range you're describing (or at any other RPM).

Just the single best sound an LS1 can make IMO.

All exhaust rasp on a LS1. Alot of people dont know what it is. Alot of exhaust cover it up if dumped under the car. Its just the resonance at that particular rpm range from the engine.

Well, when you're a when it comes to exhaust set-ups on LS1's, don't worry son because we all have to learn sometime. haha, just messin' with ya Jonas

Anyway, I say make the change and be done with it ONCE AND FOR ALL (if you've come this far, you might as well do what you really want). You're right though, I cannot believe how *insane* that exhaust sounds! Especially when I got to hear it as a passenger this time while you were driving the car.

theres no junction to cancel the rasp sound waves..once you get that they will go away.

dumb question, does it matter where in the exhaust you place the merge? closer to headers the better?

Not a dumb question. I have heard rules of thumbs in the past.< probably b.s. For sound quality purposes it could make a SLIGHT difference. Diameter plays an important part here and not just location! Not sure if any would notice and I've never experimented this on a ls1 or heard of someone experimenting on this v8. The further back the less turbulent, cooler, and slower the gas flow is.
Probably where it fits best will have to do.

Put the merge on and I think you'll be presently surprised. My duals don't rasp anywhere and have a very smooth sound. Get some clips when you put it all together!

i just hate to see people disappointed after spending all that money. you'll like it a lot more after LT's though.
