Default cats and a big cam?

unfortunately i have been hearing many stories of the police cracking down on cars not running cats. over the winter i will be installing the headers, true duals, heads and cam i bought. the cam is a MS4 so i'm worried it will kill the cats if i do install them. anyone had any experience with this? i dont know if this topic has been discussed before but search is down so i'm postin up. thanks in advance

it shouldnt kill the cats but it might be a bigger restriction then on a stock cam, another option is buyin a set of cheap cats, gutting them so their under the car in case anyone messes with ya

Get some cats, gut them, cross your fingers, and prey to God that you will get away with it.

I hear its the death penalty in Cali, firing sqaud most likely
Ky its about a $2500 fine IF you GET CAUGHT or reported by some ******* shop (VERY unlikely there). Ruin the cats? only if you run really rich after all the installation and tuning. restriction? more than likely. i second the gutted cat idea. If your not running rich then the smell wont give you away (cats typically stink only as they warm up). I dont know how big the cam is but that might give you away. Imho

Only slightly better than scouring the genitals off with a cheese grater.

Go no cats w/ a cutout + maybe a magnaflow bullet. I dont know how the cops are on the east coast, but theyre absolutely bi*ches out here in CA. Your car will be plenty loud, but if youre watching for cops youre not going to be gunning it. I've cruised right by cops 5 MPH over the speed limit with no cats, and they havent even looked at me. If they caught me at WOT that would be a verfy different story. As for the penalty I believe its $2500 per cat as well as impound! They'll pull you over for nothing and then be like oh ya you were pulled over for your front plate...can you pop you hood? Someone needs to invent that thing where it switches your plate around like the old 007 movies! Then I'd cut some bacon off their back and gun it, couldnt catch me

what about cold start-up with cats and big cam and long tubes? lots of fumes and dumping gas there! would this kill the life of a performance hi-flow cat?

i guess the consensus is magnaflow bullets with a cat shield

and i know running rich kills cats so i can imagine a cold start up would kill the cat. i didnt know that cams run rich when cold, so that would explain the cams killing cats story.

Yes Sir they do. We are definitly on the same page here. There is another aspect of cats im not sure of. sorry to hyjack for a monent but its relevant. I've never looked into my 99's cats. they are honey comb style as oppossed to the loose pellet style right? is there a difference in life between the two? My 92 lumina hada damaged crank sensor and back fires, and ran like **** as well as rich. It killed the cat so fast.
