Will the SLP CAI suck up water during rain?

Will the SLP CAI suck up water during rain?
I have a 2k z28.
With the placement of the SLP CAI sucking the air from the bottom, how likely is it going to suck up water into the engine ? If the chances are high, would it be enough to damage the engine ? Esp. with puddles and all. thanks for any advice.

A buddy of mine blew his LS6 block hitting a low water crossing with an SLP. He was an idiot though, he had the revs way up when he hit it. I had a SSRA, just the top piece, that is about the same as the slp and FTRA. I hit some standing water in a crazy storm one night leaving work and blew a hole in the bottom of my back two cylinders. I wouldnt recommend unless you are not going to be driving in the wet. LS1 RIP.

You would have to be seriously slammed and going through some deep "lakes" to have a problem with it. I am lowered about 1.5" (scrapes all driveways/speedbumps), and drive my car every day in a fairly wet area, and have not had a problem with it for 6+ years.

I shattered the #7 piston and twisted the connecting rod like a pretzel sucking water through my CAI. Being careful and under all but the most extreme conditions you'll be fine. The problem I had was while I was pulling out of a flooded parking lot VERY slowly, some knucklehead came flying in right through the water without slowing down and the resulting wake was the death toll for my LS1. As a side note, if you leave off the rubber seal that goes under the front of the airbox where the car usually takes in air, any water that may get pulled up will have someplace to go other than the engine. Actually, without the seal you shouldn't create enough vaccumn to pull water up anyway.

If you do a search on "hydrolock" you will find that it has happened to a fair number of guys. Bottom line is there is an increased risk of it when you are sucking from down low. Is it worth the increased risk for a few extra hp? Only you can decide for yourself. My answer was no.

i have driven throuch puddles in my car with the 2 piece SSRA and at first i was parinoid so i pulled off and i stuck a shop towel in and it didnt even get wet....
i have driven through rain storms at 60 mph and i know a guy on cz28.com who has driven his cammed z28 with 2 piece SSRA in hurricane rain before...
in the SSRA there is a slot that it is still able to suck air out of even if you submerse the whole front of the SSRA...
at near idle rpms there is no way is can suck up water....
if somethine bad happend to you with slp CAI, your an idiot....

LMAO, even though I'm completely against the use of language above... I couldn't agree with them more.
If you drive through a large puddle at speed, it's likely that you will get water in the intake. Having a hole in the lower intake only exaggerates that. BUT.. If you drive like a sane person in the rain, you should have any troubles.
