Default Well i got my temporary exhaust..

I got my flowmaster 80 series in the mail today.. going to get it installed tomorrow. Just the muffler, not the catback.

I bought it off ebay, used only 100 miles on it, for $50. (its clean, we took a look inside )

Yes, i'm a cheapass, but it's temporary until i save enough money for something better.. aka, when i put headers on my car and get a borla setup.

Anyways, how do you guys think this will sound on stock manifolds and stock cat. I'm leaning toward removing my cat.. but i'm not sure yet. I live outside the city, so i don't have emissions testing.

Any comments / suggestions for removing a cat.. how would it sound with this muffler with a cat, as opposed to without one.

it will sound slightly better than the stock muffler, you will gain nothing for power and it will sound like absolute **** without cats

Well my step dad put a 80 series on his LT1 (daily driver, all stock besides that) and it sounds great.. It's loud and beefy, you mean to tell me an LS1 won't sound as good, if not better? I don't understand.

I had muffler alone when I bought the car, sounded like a stocker just a few DB higher.

Wasn't bad at all, people just hate flowmaster because its trendy.

Play the clip of the muffler only vette on ls1sounds thats almost exactly how it sounds in person.

Cliffs:
Doesn't help doesn't hurt lil louder

LT1 is a different animal, you will be hard pressed to get an LS1 to sound as good

The clip def. sounds louder then stock.. I'll be happy if it ends up sounding like that.

being a self proclaimed expert on the subject : sell the muffler, save up for a real catback Hooker, Magnaflow etc... the stock SS muffler flows pretty good and sounds decent....

considering that your sig says you have CME that is one of the best sounding mufflers when you put longtubes and offroad y-pipe on there you would definally be inpressed with that animal

Any reason you couldn't live without something you didn't really want?

I waited for an SS for 3 years. I was driving a v6 camaro around for that long, now i'm going to put a lot of money in it, just have to start saving a bit more each month.

Lord have mercy ... it cost him 50 bucks and he wants to throw it on there to see what it'll sound like ... it'll sound good for the meantime. Then when he has the money, he'll get something better. What's the problem? This isn't life or death.

Thank you for pointing this out to all these naysayers.. ...it will sound 10x better than any stock muffler. and if you remove the cats it will sound louder and better IMO...I hate cats.
