LS6 intake HELP ASAP
we installed an LS6 intake with no EGR provisions today on my 98 LS1 and when we fired it up, just idled like crap. Sounded like i had a huge cam, and it was throwing codes left and right.
it got to late so we called it a night, does anyone know what we may have done wrong? all the sensors are hooked up as far as we know, one of the codes said something about a circuit? and throttle body sensor?
if anyone has any ideas, anything is apprieciated!

Make sure all 10 of your intake manifold bolts are tight. If they aren't, then it causes a vacuum leak and that will make it run like crap. Make sure that your small vacuum line on the intake is on there tight as well as the larger hose that runs to the brake booster. I just installed mine this weekend and didn't have a problem. I bet its those bolts though.

ya i just installed mine this weekend as well, sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak or you have forgotten to reconnect one of the many plugs you have to disconnect.
BTW, your going to love the added power when you get the car up and running right.

removal/install took about 2 hours total, hardest part would be just the tight working conditions. Just be mindful not to pinch any lines under the intake on the backside of it under the cowl. Just be patient and it will be a piece of cake or all else fails and you can post up on LS1tech haha!

yea we will double check those bolts and vac. lines tonight. im hoping it something simple, considering after firing it up last night it sounded like a drag car. my neighbors were loving that at 11pm.
the install was pretty simple, the hard part was taking everything off cuz its so tight back there. what kind of numbers do you guys think ill get with the mods i have in my sig?

engine temp sensor (driver side front side of cylinder head), is it connected?
map senor, check for its fitment and if it is connected.
vac lines- did you remove the air solenoid? plug back in the small vac hose onto back of intake mani (controls HVAC operation)?
miss any injector harness conections? check all the wire harness connections.
Hope you find your problem.

well we finally got around to workn on my car again. we found that a sensor in the back of some sort was broken in two. it is threaded in the block at the way back of the intake manifold.
its about 3" by 1" and has a metal piece at the bottom with threads, and a place to plug in a cable at the top with 2 prongs.
Does anyone have any idea what this is?? or where i could buy it from??

I believe that might be the oil sending unit. I just installed my fast last weekend and in the process broke it off. It was on a sunday and i had to chase it for hours before i found one.

If it looks like this:
It's the oil pressure sending unit. You can see I broke mine when I did my manifold swap. It gets caught on the rear brake booster hose and tears off unless you unplug it from the harness first. Mine was like $40-50 and special order at advanced auto. Good luck.

The other thing you may want to check are the coolant tubes that run under the intake. If you are runing the same tubes as the ls1 intake this could cause your vacum leak. You should get the 01-02 coolant tubes, it removes them from under the intake. also the clips that hold the knock sensor wire to the old ls1 coolant tubes should also be removed and duct taped to the valley cover.
Good luck hope this helps

yeah... broke mine the first time too... that's why it pays to read-up on an install before you perform it, because even if you are good with cars you don't see stupid **** like that.

i went to 2 gm dealers and both had none, just my luck
just outta curioisity though, when we did an OBD II scan, it gave us a TPS (throttle position sensor) message
does that mean i need need a new TPS? or is it just because of the Oil Pressure Sensor thats broken?
