Default Too loud?

i just ordered pacesetter headers and a ORY for my 2000 SS, it has the loud mouth 2 exhaust on it. I know everyone says these two combined its way to loud and obnoxious. but i was wondering if all of those people that say that were running the LM1 or LM2, or if it matters for that fact. And if you think it would be to loud what muffler or bullet would you suggest in its place?

1 is louder. 2 is still loud. They didn't call it loudmouth for its low decibel rating. Anyway, if it is too loud you can always put another bullet inline with it or run a catted y.

without cats it'll be loud and prolly raspy as hell you might try replacing the lm2 bullet with a flo-pro twisted muffler, they are great for getting rid of rasp

That's way too subjective to answer.

What is too loud for one person may be far too boring for another.

Personally on a muscle car I couldn't stand to have anything quieter than a Loudmouth (1 with cats).

yeah the cats will be gone. I absolutely love the way it sounds now and i wouldn't even mind it to be a little louder, but i don't want the rasp and i want to avoid the fuzz as much as possible.

LM 1, pace setters, and ory here. It will definatly be louder than your used to, but you'll be able to handle it. As far as the rasp, mine is only raspy when its cold. After it warms up its fine. It will talk to you now fo sho. Oh yeah, if I had to DD mine, I would have another set up. HEHE

I had the original LM1 a long time ago with the stock y pipe and cats. It was loud, but completely reasonable.

Then again, I've been driving around a turbo car with no cats and an open dump under the passenger compartment for about a year and a half so I may be deaf by now...

My friend had a LT ORY and LM1 set up and that thing scared women and children! We were on our way to the track and we were driving through this little town and there was some lady bent over gardening and he flashed his converter and she jumped so high! I think she could have dunked on 10 feet lol

Going back to the original question,

I have jet hots, catted y and lm II like you.

The jet hot cat's are rediculously small and barely an excuse for a cat. BUT I LOVE the way it sounds. Everything about it. Cold, hot, idle, midrange and 5k. It sounds, to me, So incredible. Better than I could have imagined it. From the inside, I can't notice any rasp thus far. But I bet it sounds a little different from the outside. I don't think I would want to run no cats.

This weekend a friend of mine and I are going to get some footage of it on video. Let you know how it sounds . Also, At first, I thought it was too loud. But after a half hour of driving you'll fall in love with it.

Rick M.
