Default 2002 T/A GM cat converter recall

First, I've done a site-based Google and not found anything on this but I greatly appreciate links to more information.

Got a recall notice for the cats on the car noted above but there is NO indication of what kind of issue it is. Does anyone have any info on this?

Got the same letter in the mail today...

If I still had my cats, I guess I would be worried

HA! Lets see, you could buy those cars late 01, so 5 years late. Go GM!

The issue is sometimes they rattle (coming apart inside) or just loose their efficiency, which will result in the car throwing a code. They were covered for 8yrs/80K before - GM just extended the warranty and is offering reimbursement in case you didn't know about it and had a shop replace one.

Just a FYI, it even states in the letter that this is not a recall. Just a FYI on the added waranty.

Ditto. It's not a recall, just a warranty extension on the cats.

^ You are giving them too much credit, it's the 2000-2002 models so it's as long as 7 years late, good job General Motors

Well, better late than never. There's a reimbursement process if you've already had the problem and had it fixed. Anyone who has ever worked in a large organization knows how difficult it is to get things done quickly. Divisions and subdivisions have budgets and when you do stuff like this, budgets have to be changed. That usually ain't easy to do.
