Default Throttle body bumpstop mod, Question

when doing the bumpstop mod it says you need it at 4.7 volts. What happens if you are over or under? Just wondering because I didn't even check mine.

if you are under the 4.7 volts you are safe. if you go over the 4.7 volts the car will not run right. you are letting in too much air

you'll throw a code and set off the SES light if you go over 4.7 volts.

what these guys mean to say is if you went over 4.7 volts the blade is opening more than 90*.

No such thing as too much air . It just throws the SES light on. Essentially, depending on how much you over grind the bump stop, you're actually undoing the good you just did, since it allows the TB blade to go past 90 degrees.

quick question.......what is the bumpstop mod? I'm assuming it involves grinding off a piece of metal that allows the throttle blade to open up more?

You would be correct. Read more about it on installuniversity.com

You use a multi-meter to check the TPS voltage untill it's AAAAAAlmost at 4.7 volts, then you stop grinding the bumpstop.

Most cars won't feel a difference, but some cars came really fubar'd, and only opening like 85%.

My car reads well short of 4.7 but the tps reads 100% when scanned. Makes me think voltage may not be the right way to do this.

If you go over 90 degrees arent you just back where you started. If you just stick an adjustable screw in youll be ok right, or will the light stay on.

on the basic autotap paramaters my car reads 100% on the tps. i dont have advanced paramaters with the degrees... im curious to see what sort of difference i would see there.
