Default Exhaust question

I have a totally stock 98 z28 and i was wondering what the exhaust would sound like if i just had a y pipe in the place of the muffler. It has cats and factory manifolds. I figured it cant be much louder than a loudmouth since the loudmouth is practically a straight threw pipe. THe car would still have dual outlets though just no muffler ,just a hollow pipe.

Never heard that kind of set up in person before but I would imagine it would sound like one of those big bubba trucks. not my personal favorite. Just go to ls1sounds.com and listen to different setups.

ive looked on ls1 sounds and did a search and can't find anything on it . i was going to try this set up , and if i didn't like it i could add some kinda of bullet style muffler. also thinkin about loudmouth exhuast on there.

it would probably resemble the sound of open headers, just a little more refined sound because of the cats.....and not quite as loud

Don't waste your time! Save up for headers and a ORY. You'll be more satisfied doing that.
