Default How well does factory SLP Dual/Dual flow over other Catbacks?

I have the SLP D/D system which was a factory SLP option on my car. I'm pretty happy with it so far, it has a pretty sweet sound to it. After perusing LS1sounds.com, I really like the Borla system, which seems to have a deeper and louder tone to it. I have heard good things about the D/D setup, and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to switch over to an aftermarket catback. The rest of the car is bone-stock.

you would MAYBE see a marginal gain. the slp d/d is a very sought after catback. it flows extermley well and it is quiet and sounds great. i wouldnt switch over to the borla..just through on a pair of longtubes and an ory. you will get the louder and deeper tone. you can also hear that set up on ls1sounds

i think the factory installed SLP dual/duals were the ones with that restriction built into them for legal reasons, the aftermarket ones are basically the same but without the ring in the pipes. someone will correct me if i'm wrong, but i remember reading a thread on here about it....

You've got the best catback out IMO, the Borla would be a mistake. The "coolness" of being loud will wear off quick. I suggest you get an electric cutout, then you can have the best of both worlds.

Only some dual/duals had the restriction, you can read about it here....

I have a Borla and can't say that if I had a SLP DD that I'd change, except for only one reason: The built-in "cut-out". That's the big reason I like my Borla and QTEC. Closed, she still sounds bad@$$, with very little rasp, and with the QTEC open, screams like a banshee. Stainless construction is a good thing that both share, but if you throw a nice cut-out on that beesh, I'm sure that'd be just as good.

JMHO.

It's only on one side of the muffler, for the exit of one pipe.

My pinky couldn't even fit in the hole. Blur is correct. Only on the driver side.
