intake showdown
hey guys, you really helped me out with my exhaust in the "loudmouth trouble" thread so ive come back for more. ive searched many of the threads but i can't really find the answers im looking for... so if this question has already been posted i apologize in advance. but i'm doing my homework on the many intakes there are for an LS1 and im not sure which one is the most cost effective and which one will provide the most hp. i was curious if anyone had a preference... let me know what you think
thanks alot
birdman
p.s. if anyone is selling an intake pm me thanks

Are you tallking intake manifold or just intake setup as in filter, lid, MAF, etc.
If manifold:
Budget good for all setups (n/a, FI, boost)
-Ported stock TB and LS6 intake.
Expensive (maninly n/a but will work for other setups also)
-FAST 90 intake and NW or PTM 90mm TB (ported FAST 90 intake even better)
All other setups generally have some form of compromise for a street machine.

I assume you are talking about the intake (lid) setup judging by the fact that your sig says you have a voolant air kit but looking for something else?
If this is what you are looking for then this question is debatable. Cost effect IMO a lid is the best way to go. There are plenty out there including slp, whisper, mti etc etc and they pretty much all have the same horsepower output.
If talking about the intake manifold then the best bang for the buck is the ls6 as mentioned above.

Yes as far as complete intake setup, I would run an ls6 intake manifold, ported stock TB, and lid. That will add a great deal of hp to an otherwise stock car, and also be fairly inexpensive doing it.
