The lid is worth something, the filter is nothing but
trouble. You're far better off with a lid and a paper
filter.

yea the K&N vs paper filter debate is another story, I personally have one and have never had a problem with it but no major gains, The major gains are in the Lid

Get a lid that's where the power is.

The k&N is not the best filter but if you have one then don't worry too much. When clean they do flow better but you're not talking noticable HP.

Just make sure it seals in the air box and make sure the filter is clean. Even partially dirty k&N's flow way worse than a paper filter.

If you don't want to worry about the hassle of cleaning and re-oiling the filter sell it and use a OEM paper filter instead. It's a lot cheaper.

If you do clean the k&N watch for over oiling as it will get on your MAF and bugger up the readins making the car run bad.

SEARCH should provide more info on this.

I wish I could find the article, but I read where a major performance magazine tested out 6 or 7 different lids for the LS1 and most of them netted 3 - 5 peak RWHP. If I can find the link to the article, I'll post it up. As far as bang for the buck goes, 5 RWHP for $95 isn't too bad!

The real problem is when you don't clean it right. Don't over oil it and make sure it is pretty well dry before sticking it back in the car. Not dripping with oil.

I like K@N They flow well and you can clean it.. Last for a long time. As for the lid I have a MTI because its clear.. Lid is a lid pretty much.. Just some have fitment issues.
