Did you unbolt the bracket or the pump?
Just unplug everything and take it out.

I'm keeping the stock manifolds but putting on a dual exhaust. Can I get rid of the AIR system? Or do I need to tune it out? I have an 02.

Your going to have to have the codes programmed out for the AIR and rear O2's if you don't plan on keeping them.

All you need is a socket and a long extension to go straight up. Should be a piece of cake.

On my 99 it's just a simple 3 way T fitting. You may have to take it off and look inside.

Can I get to the air pump without putting the car up in the air? My brother is using all 4 jack stands on his car so I can't borrow them right now. Was planning on installing LS6 intake and removing AIR and EGR after work sometime this week. Nice write-up btw.

I think so, you'll need to be able to look up into the cutout to see the bolts so you can get your long extension on them. You might try a mirror and a flashlight. The size of the pump may be close to the gap to the ground so I'm not sure it would drop all the way out. If it doesn't, just drive up onto a phone book or something to get some extra clearance.

Mine had the same thing, but it looked like it had a part of the windshield wiper fluid system on top of it...

That does look odd, i'm guessing that it is some sort of T fitting. Either way, i'm thinking of removing as many of the lines as I can close to the Air Pump. Howevere, I think i'm going to keep the unit there... incase I ever want to revert the car back to stock.

Well got the AIR and EGR removed while I'm waiting on some coolant plugs to finish my LS6 intake swap. Wasn't to bad at all, I did end up jacking the car up a little bit. Quick question, those four bolts holding the AIR pump aren't holding anything above it down are they? Left them out and don't plan on putting them in unless they are needed.
