Default Tick tick tick....pissing me off

Okay, I had my cam swap awhile back. All new everything, pushrods, rr's, springs the works. When I come to stop lights or w.e, I would say 50% of the time, there is a tick tick tick tick tick noise that I hear. I call the dude who did my swap and he said something like that happens when you do aluminum rr's????? It is really pissen me off and Id really like to know what the problem is.

our cars are notorious for the ticking valvetrain. however, it would be wise to lift a valve cover and take a look at your rockers. one could be broken.

i have it and my **** is bone stock on the inside... 21k miles ... don't have the tools or time to pull covers to check though... at least thats what i assume it is, as I've not found an exhaust leak and it increases with RPMs... then at 2700ish RPM the engine sounds like its hitting a flat spot or something (no decrease in power, just a different tone that goes away after 3400rpm its really weird, not sure if its normal as well with LS1's or not) ...

i dunno what to think about it honestly... seems like it goes away after certain RPM's but it could just be that the engine making more noise revving and the exhaust drowns it out

Could be an exhaust leak...there is some food for thought.

+1

or a loose spark plug
or it's just added sound due to the cam swap, aka the sewing machine

Either an exhaust leak or the pushrods are too short or the rockers were not torqued down properly.

My valvetrain doe not tick, but it does sound kinda noisy.

Gotta know the base circle of the cam in order to know correct pushrod length.

I am in the same boat as all of you guys, I have just replaced the header gasket, and its still making the same sound. I will be pissed if its the internals. Going back to check all the bolts to make sure they are tight.

Headers will tend to amplify the tick over the factory manifolds.

I dont know if my tick is just from the cam and new springs. Before, I had true duals, which you cant hear the tick at all. Well, I have changed my exhaust setup to catted y pipe and hooker cat back. It gets louder the more I push the gas down. The power does not seem to be lost, other than changing to cats and a catback. Any ideas on the problem or is this normal?
