Default quieter exhaust?

Well heres the deal, I love the sound of my car, but it is getting me in too much trouble. I have had several tickets, and over 30 complaints from my fellow apartment complex neighbors...

I need to quiet down my car. Right now i have Dynatech supermaxx header system with dual cats that flows into a loudmouth 1 exhaust. I know several other people with loudmouth's, and mine is by far the loudest for some reason, I have no clue why, I am guessing it is the headers?

Regardless, I am looking for a much quieter system. I was debating putting the stock system on with dual cutouts right after the headers, but Dont really feel like fabbing up a new y-pipe for it.

Does anyone have any suggestions based on what i am looking for? Thanks, Jeff

Try replacing the LM resonator with a Borla XR-1. Should quiet it down some. I dont see why it would be super loud since you have cats. Ah I see you have a cam.

Actually it was just as loud before the cam. suprisingly the cam did not add any tone to it, just a little lope I am leaning towards getting a whole new exhaust that is much quieter... I like to get on it quite a bit, and being so loud draws too much attention, I would rather be more stealthy, but i want the car next to me to know its not stock at the same time.

Generally how do the systems rate in terms of loudness? I have heard many things about the magnaflow, but noone around ehre has one! Is it louder than the hooker? I had a hooker catback on my 95 camaro, and it was much quieter, but it was a totally different engine / combination.

I went from Loudmouth to a magnaflow cat back. Now I'm going to the borlamouth setup. I had many compliments with the loudmouth although I didn't like it. So I'm going to add the borla xr-1 to the setup.

Which one is quieter? Hooker or magnaflow? My main concern is idle-1500. My goal is to get out of my apartment complex without getting rocks throw at my car because everyone hates it

Well they are about the same in noise. I have the hooker and long tubes and a cam and most people like the way it sounds. Idle it sounds good and not annoying.

Never get the flowmaster unless it is a one series. The cat back they make for our cars sucks period. complete waste of money.

Yeah i have heard that about the flowmasters. I can pick up a brand new magnaflow system shipped to my door for 350 so i will probably end up going with that system.

I run a Magnaflow with cats and LTs and it's pretty manageable. I also have an e-cutout for when I just don't care.

No one never mentions the LM2 which has a very lower tone with headers

I've run a stock muffler on LTs/Ory/3"I-pipe, and it was pretty damn quiet. If its that big of a concern for you, it will solve the problem nicely. My magnaflow though is just a tad louder at idle-1500 and when cruising. I can make sound like a stock exhaust when cruising next to cops, but have it get very loud and old school sounding when I get on it a bit. Magnaflow is what you want.

here is what my car sounds like: (not my car but same mods)

Just an update. I picked up a magnaflow kit and have installed it. It is much quieter at idle and cruising which is PERFECT. It does get more throaty the more i get into it. So overall I am VERY impressed with it. Thats everyone for your help!
