It'll work.. but you won't be able to drop your car without having to worry about clearance issues.

Speed bumps will be your new worst enemy lol..

Do a search for 'boom tubes'.. they're a nascar style side exhaust. I contemplated putting them on my car but later decided against it. Not many guys out there have them but you could check em out if you'd like.

I saw a guy about 2-3 weeks ago with side exhaust on a Silver Z28 in Lafayette, Indiana. I have only seen the car once and it was not from this area from the plates. Super loud and he had exhaust soot on the side of his car.

Some setups have been known to leave paint discoloration due to the exhaust fumes.. I'm not sure how you could avoid that?

Do a search I've seen pics on LS1TECH before. I believe there were clearance issues though.

I know of two guys here locally that have side exit exhaust. Personlly if I were to do it I would go with a bent tubbing like how are stock y-pipes are to give a bit more clearance with z28 or similar tips.

I have plans for a side exit exhaust that fixes the ground clearance problem without using boom tubes. What I don't know about is whether soot or fumes are going to be a problem.

I think soot can be controlled by tuning the engine. My car is black, so as long as it doesn't actually hurt the paint it won't be noticable. Hopefully tuning will cure it. What about fumes though? Will running no cats make the smell noticable or not?

I can only imagine pulling up to a stop light with a slight tailwind and the windows down.

fumes would be no worse than the thousands of people that have exhaust systems dumped under the car. I'm doing mine with the dr. gas street boom tubes (the spintrap muffler ones) H pipe, exit on both sides in front of the rear wheel wells. Considering doing it with oval pipe, but I'm not sure if the extra LITTLE bit of clearance is worth it. My car is dropped on pro-kit springs in front and stock height in rear so I don't think it'll be a problem. I ran tsp true duals before so clearance won't be any worse at the least. I'll post pics when it's done sometime this month.
