Default pining a ATI crank pulley.

I got the hole done and how do you get the pin in the key way of the dampner? Is there a trick? i was thinking about a little silcone and a little luck.

thanks,

No, pin goes in crank prior to installing pulley then the pulley will go on over it. Don't use a longer bolt to install, use the right tool with a threaded rod that goes all the way into the crank.

Turn the crank so the pin is at 3 or 6 o'clock. Don't boil the damper. The press fit on the ATI is critical, did you measure?

The pin dosent fit "snug" in the hole. It will slip out but i guessing that the key way and the harmonic blot will hold the pin in place. MY hole it right at 6 oclock. So i was going to use a little silicone to hold the pin while i install the damper. I dont usederstand the reason i can boil the end of the damper? ATI says you can. heres a link please let me know if i am wrong.

ALUMINUM HUBS

NOTE: If using a front cover teflon seal, you must use a “Speedy Sleeve” or a steel hub.

Aluminum hubs have a .002” press fit between the crank and the hub. DO NOT ALTER the press fit of the hub in any way! The press fit on the aluminum hub is slightly tighter to compensate for the elasticity of the aluminum.

To install, heat the hub in boiling water for five minutes to expand the hub slightly and help it slide onto the crank. Use gloves to handle the hub after it has been heated. After installing the hub, allow time for it to cool.

OK, didn't know it was the aluminum hub and it also sounded like you were going to put in the whole damper. My pin was also loose and I went to an 0.001 oversize for better fit. The only reason I said to rotate the crank was to keep the pin from sliding out.
