Default What do I need to install Pacesetters??

I am new to LS1tech, and have been away from these cars for a while. I just purchased a 98 Z28. I am thinking of buying a set of Pacesetter LTs with the catted Ypipe from Texas Speed.

So my question is What else is there that I need to buy? Will I be able to jsut transfer over my o2 sensors or are there simulators of some sort? Can I eventually attatch a true dual system in the future?

Thansk guys.

you will need o2 extensions for the front.. i dont know about the rear as i dont have rear o2s. i would just have them tuned out. you can go to duals later. most poeple will tell you to put in new plugs and wires while you do the swap but its a personal choice. You can also get new gaskets as the ones that come with pacesetter arent the best. also new header bolts might be recommended

I planned to order the extensions, and the rest I can probably pick up at the local parts store. I just want to make sure that everything i need to order will be here when I am ready to start.

One more question---Who does the programming nowadays? I used madz28 from camaroz28.com years ago, but dont know if he is still around.

OK I just ordered them. Got the headers with catted ypipe, o2 extensions, MSD wires, and NGK plugs all from Texas speed.

Now on to more suspension parts. I am going to be a busy person. Just like a kid in a candy store.

Get new GM metal gaskets. The bolts that come with the pacesetters are just fine. They also include wire to extend your 02's. It works fine but i would recommend getting extensions. From experience splicing the wires is a hassle. Also I STRONGLY recommend a good 10mm gear wrench. It will be your best friend on this job.

Yep I got it. I have a set allready. I never heard anyone call them gear wrenches. I think of a gear wrench as something special to remove a gear, so needed clarity.

I have done 2 sets of LT1 headers, and participated in quite a few LT1 header installs, but paid someone to do my last set of LS1 headers. I am told the LS1 is a lot easier. I am hoping there arent too many bolts stuck from its 120k miles.

Thanks for all the advice, So who's coming to help????

gear wrenches, time , and patience. Had to remove the steering stem on my car to get the driverside to tuck into its spot. Those two back bolts can be a pain to start

You can reuse the front o2 sensors from your front stock exhaust!! and install them on the collector of the new Pace LT's! do not mix the front w/the back. You will not be using them.If you will not be tuning it soon then buy the rear o2 sensor simulators(ws6 store has them, they are a sponsor). I strongly recommend changing the motor mounts while all the exhaust is of brotha, even if you just change the drivers side!!! this will avoid that damn y-pipe banging!!!! I had a custom catted 3in ypipe and the **** banged every time i made any semi aggresive launches, til I installed the pace ORY pipe w/the mufflex hanger and my banging issues are finally gone!!!!. The ws6 store also has the mufflex anti banging hanger. ohh and jack the car up as high and as safe as you can. Just slide them right up. be careful not to damage the sensor on the front of the block on the drivers side! and be careful to install the plugs and the wires correctly before start up. Good luck and congradulations!!!
