Default First Mod - Exhaust

Ok, I am going to do the first mod to the car and need opinions. I want to get the Pacesetter LT's coated and "y" pipe. I want to keep my stock cat-back but I want to know if thats a good idea. Will it flow good enough to justify the Header and y-pipe install?

Also, how will this sound? I am assuming a little more agressive, but will it have that tinny sound?

Also, if I get the race version, what do I remove emissions wise?

Thanks.

Really if your going to go through all that trouble you might as well put a cat back on. It will flow a great deal better.

I have pacesetter LTs and their Y pipe with stock exhaust. But I also have a cutout. I like the sound of it. I can be screaming loud or pretty tame stock sounding with the cutout closed. If you keep the stock catback get a cutout.

You really should read the FAQ and check out LS1sounds.com.

You didn't mention if you were going ORY or catted Y...either way, with headers yes the exhaust will be more aggressive. Don't know what you mean by tinny. If you mean raspy, probably not, more likely with ORY, but still, through the stock cat-back probably not too much. Since it's free to try the stock cat-back, why don't you do this, and if you don't like it, look at replacing it? I agree that a cutout would be good to add if you're keeping the stock cat-back.

As for the race version and what to remove, you definitely need to look at the FAQ, it's all been typed out already.

I agree with formula, get a cutout. with the stock catback you can be super quiet or loud as hell. and you could leave it partially opened too.
Mine sounds awseome at wot with headers an ORY.

I installed Pacesetters with ORY, with stock catback. I like it, I also have a cutout. Remember to get the Bosch 13111 O2 sensors so that you dont have to deal with extensions.

Nice and loud open, nice and smooth when the cutout is closed.
