volant cai or lid ?

Pretty much they will give you the same gains, the only reason why people get the volant cai is b/c some people think it looks better, but if your just lookin for power lid is the way to go, either way your lookin at about a 10 pony increase

I had one and I didnt like the base of the unit, it didnt hold the radiator like is should
I did email Volant and they never replied.
I bought mine second hand (unused) so it wasn't too bad pricewise. I think if I had to do it again--I'd get the 85mm Lid and upgrade the MAF (about the same price as a Volant) or the MTI Clear lid, which looks just as cool IMHO

I had a TS&P smoked 85mm lid for my first combo - with the FTRA. I didn't like that the car an hotter since almost the entire front of the rad was blocked by the duct.
Went with the Volant, debaffled my hood, and designed/made custom ducts for inside the hood to individually duct the air from the rear of the hood openings to the rectangular cutout in the hood. That way the cold air is ducted directly into the sealed Volant air box. I know it is not true ram air as the boundary layer of air in that area is not high pressure - but I like the look of the Volant over the lid.
I got mine new for a deal on eBay. It is true that it does not hold the rad as securely as the stock base did (allows the rad to set back further toward engine) but have had no problems so far.
No HP/TQ increase with the Volant over the lid - but no loss either - it was a wash - but the car does run cooler now that FTRA duct is out of the way.
I've seen the Volant run with the FTRA also so that air comes up from high pressure area under car and thru hood grilles - but in my case I wanted to get rid of the FTRA...
