Default It Finally Sounds Right (Exhaust Vid)

A few weeks ago I installed a set of LT headers and an ORY. Well the flowmaster 1 chamber I had became unbearbly loud, and by that I mean hear it in the next state loud

I bought a Dynomax Ultraflo cat back (which you have to buy in parts from summit because dynomax doesnt sell a kit with the ultraflo muffler) It toned down the noise level a bit, but i still didnt like the rasp and popping. I was going for a quiet rumble at low rpm's, but I wanted louder when I get on it and as little rasp as possible.

I decided to try one more thing. I read on here that a bullet type muffler in the I pipe will help with the rasp and smooth out the tone. I decided to give the magnaflow muffler a try. Summit part # MPE-14419. I'm happy to say that it was exactly what I was looking for. Its not much quieter, but it sounds much more refined. The magnaflow seemed to mellow it out a lot, it doesnt have that annoying popping around 2500-3500 rpm either.

Heres a vid I put together of all 3 systems after I installed the headers:

wow man that sounds soo clean now!! I keep hearing different ideas and most of them work but I haven't taken the time yet. Is this a slip fit or did you weld it in?

I had everything welded in. The cat back is a slip fit/bolt on system, but I've always have issued with those C clamps that you get in the kits. I'd rather have it welded to make sure it wont leak.

Theres a driving vid of the 1 chamber flow. First part is the same as the other vid. Its WAY louder than the vid seems. It sounds good, but it was driving me crazy.

I'll have a driving vid of the others soon.

The first one is farther back, the other 2 are about the same length, I just zoomed in on the 3rd so you wouldnt see the neighbors shithole they call a house.

They are all louder than what the vid shows. Its not quiet now, its just not ear popping loud.

I would describe that as classic Magnaflow sound. Well done.
I always attempted to describe Magnaflow to people when they asked what to get for the best flow coupled with a good quality low, throaty sound.

I have a Magnaflow cat-back w/ORP's.
It does sound like an insane isylumn when you flatass get on it and run it to the redline.
Gates of Hell opening kinda insane...

Its not as bad in the vid.

What I was trying to get rid of was a very loud high pitched sound between 2500-3200 rpm's. I dont really know how to describe it other than it sounded like a glasspack on a truck. I guess it was some type of rasp, and it sounded terrible. The magnaflow cured it, and helped with the interior niose.

I think it was the addition of the "extra" step as much as anything. Wide open exhausts (i.e. Large Y pipes-ORP-open muffler) are going to have a Nascar sound.
If you ever hear a Nascar up close - it growls like a wild animal. Some might call that a rasp but it is crazier sounding than that.

Add something in the stream of the set-up I described above in ( ) and you calm down that that growl.

Sounded good.
