Default Found cause of misfires

Coils are almost two years old. This is how three came back from MSD's warranty department. No replacements sent. They said it is their policy to only offer a one year warranty on ingnition coils. Car only had about 3k miles since I installed them. If you tap them with a hammer, they start to fire...

that's rediculous... you pay that much for something and the company doesn't even back up their product... especially with such low miles/time on them

I know what i'm not ever buying...

waste of money, stock coils are fine, and if anything you can upgrade to the truck coils, which supposedly are alittle better than standard fbody ones. I would never buy that honestly tho no matter what

No. I don't care what their advertising says. The stockers have been used in HP applications in the neighborhood of 1000RWHP without issue. I firmly stand by my opinion that the only reason they actually sell these is because of smart marketing & people who aren't really educated about our stock coils.

Almost everyone I have seen buy a set of these has turned around & sold them to go back to stock units. Most people just look at the name & think just cause it's MSD it has to be better than stock, but this isn't the case with our coil packs.

No tryin to bash MSD here cause I have no problem with alot of their parts, but these are really a pointless part that is extremely overpriced.

I had 2 MSD coils go bad in under 6 months! MSD replaced them under warranty, I then removed all the MSD coils and sold them.

Pieces of crap.

I voiced my opinion to MSD when they called and told me that they were not going to replace them. One of my points that I brought up to the tech is that it is a plug and play item. There is no way that I caused them to fail by wiring them wrong, unlike a 6A box or something hard-wired?

Anyway, I put stock coils back on and I swear the car runs better than ever. Before the misfires started, I noticed that the car did not pull as hard up top.

The stock coils are sealed Denso units. What I think is happening with the MSD junk is that they are splitting where they glue them together....

I guess sometimes you learn your lesson the expensive way!
