looking for catback, want it loud but LM too loud?
Im in the market for some catback, I definitely want it loud but from what I have heard, LM 1 might be too loud for my tastes. I have SLP LT Headers, a catted y-pipe and flowmaster(don't ask, not my setup by any means). Right now the car is way too quiet for me. I was thinking of just getting the LM 1 and if I don't like it, just turn it into borlamouth. However, if I'm gonna spend the money to do that anyway, why not just go with GMMG or borla....

yes a loudmouth will be plenty loud with longtubes. when i had the stock LS1 in my TA i had that same exhaust setup minus cats and made more than enough noise to **** people off. too loud? depends on what you're willing to tolerate.

Since you have a catted y I would not be afraid of the LM2. It is cheap, stainless, sounds great with LTs and cats, and is easily changed to a borla or magnamouth.

The LM 1 looks nice because of the price. My friend has is on his Z28 so I'm gonna see if he will let me drive it around(although I'm pretty sure he doesn't have headers so I'm not sure if I will get the full effect). However, if I'm gonna have to get a borla or dynomax muffler to tame it, I might as well look into some used borla(I've seen it for 400-500 used on a couple of forums) or GMMG(~170 more than LM1 -380- + Muffler -150- = 530)

GMMG or Borla would do nicely... Magnaflow and Hooker sound great IMO and are pleanty loud if you ask me... if you're not worried about rust in your area, I'd go hooker if I was worried about price. If rust was a serious issue, Magnaflow would win out for the budget choice since it's stainless steel.

my vote is for magnaflow, it is nice and low toned..and you can always upgrade the muffler later on..if you want to be louder down the road, just but a cutout and you will be good

iwill speak on experience from this i had the single tip loudmouth and it was awesome loud, but it also sukd cuz it droned and it was just way too loud in the cabin, i switched to the magnaflow and it sounds great could be louder but i guess headers would help that.....i like the sound and the look, i would go gmmg or magnaflow

Personaly I would not do the Magnaflow system. Yeah its a little more quite than the Loudmouth 2 system, but you would stand a better chance to make more power from the LM2 system. The Magnaflow system uses a crossflow muffler where the LM2 runs a resonator type muffler. Thats why the sound is a lot different. I have the SLP LM2 and I love it, but I do not have headers or an ORY yet, so IDK how loud it would be. But pretty much any exhaust with headers and an ORY will be loud.

Very true on the rasp. But any headers and cat back combo will be loud enough to cause some sort of rasp. The Crossflow muffler type carbacks (hooker, magnaflow) will have less of a chance to have any rasp. And of course cats will help.
