Default Convert to E85?

Whats needed to run E85 in my WS6? I heard gas is going up to $4.00 a gallon and E85 is less then $2.00 so it might not be a bad idea! Thanks.

Where are you located that e85 is less than $2/gal? It's only 30-40 cents cheaper than regular gas around here.

it realy isn't ... from what I've read, higher flow fuel pump + higher flow injectors (36lb or 42lb?) and you're burning off quite a bit more... you won't get nearly as good of gas mileage with it, therefore technically not saving at the pump because you refuel more often.

Air fuel ratio for E85 is around 9.8:1 vs. 13.1:1 for gas, so you burn a lot more. You have to change parts in the fuel system that would be eaten up by alcohol. Ethanol is pretty cool for boosted engines though, it has a pump octane of about 105.

You'd have to weigh the price versus the decrease in mileage. If you got 25mpg now I would expect about 19mpg with ethanol

Increased octane rating won't increase power, just allows higher boost and/or high compression ratio.

The LS7 clutch is wicked, got it because my stocker for toast. I chirp into 3rd gear now with the LS7 clutch and stock power.....The price?..1 broken driveshaft and a rear end on it's last legs.

I've considered switching, but I also have a daily driver that gets around 25 MPG. There is a 23%-25% decrease in fuel economy so basically the only trade-off is if E85 is substantially lower in cost than gasoline. Also there are only about 600 or so stations out of 170,000+ that carry E85, so unless you know of a station near it wouldn't be wise to convert. Some benefits of it though are cleaner emissions (almost no COs emitted), serves as a cleaning agent for the fuel system, and circulates $$ back into the economy (if that happens to be a concern for yourself). Here in Indy E85 is anywhere from 40-70 cents cheaper, so if gas does rise to $4.00+ and E85 stays roughly the same, I'll highly consider switching.

E85 is not corrosive. Only injectors (and maybe pump) need to be switched out. Allows for more compression\boost. Safer on the motor. YOu also arent sending money to those camel jockies for their Eyeslime motivated, Mudhutman worshipping murder.
