Thumbs up Bolt-on install pics! 56k BEWARE!!!

Hey guys,

Well, this weekend we installed practically every bolt-on mod to my stock '00 Z28.
List of Stuff:

FlowTech LTs, Y-pipe, cutout
Poly motor and tranny mounts
Lid, TB bypass, free ram-air
MSD Superconductors & NGK TR-55s
!EGR, !AIR

Props to Hilton for teaching me everything I didn't know, and for totally taking command of the install project and getting it done.

Total Install Time: 21.5 hours over a Sat. and Sun.

On to the pics!

Got her up in the air.

Broken stock header bolt, was a BITCH to get out.

The LS-1 stripped of all the necessary components to begin the mods.

Comparison of stock motor mount to the new poly. Stock=GARBAGE.

Another mount comparison.

The clamshells needed modifying (rivets SUCK).

On the left, unassembled mount, on the right, completed mount assembly.

Stock tranny mount, for the bushes!!!

Headers in, shot from the top.

Headers in, shot from the bottom.

Everything complete, fully assembled right before first crank.

Hope you all enjoyed the pics. I know there aren't any explanatory pics for installation purposes, but I wasn't there to be a photographer...just snapped a few as we went along. Any questions about installing anything, PM me or my install partner "Hilton."

Thanks man! It was quite the ordeal to get all that done in 2 days. I think we may have broken a record or something, LOL

I just got done doing the same thing a couple months back.
The header install was a cake walk since I had access to a lift.
The motor mounts still SUCKED ***! I could have changed the trany mount with my eyes closed.

Were your stock motor mount hermetically sealed like mine?
Had to torch the suckers out.

Yeah, that was a good time all right! At least it was once the hangover went away. Glad you didn't take a picture of me Saturday morning. Also good job leaving out pictures of the cutout. I don't think I could handle the criticism. Short shifter still needs to go in. Maybe tomorrow?

Yeah, I made the block off plates. It's part of a "retired" street sign. Your tax dollars at work!

The motor mounts aren't really that hard to take apart. The first one we did the hard way. The second one I used an impact hammer to pop that little rivet out after grinding off the head.

I can't see the pictures because they're blocked at work and my home computer is broken. I'm sure they're nice though.

I tell you guys, she pins you in the seat at a 3rd gear 70mph punch, it's impressive. Like I told Hilton, though, other than speed/sound benefits, I HIGHLY recommend the poly tranny mount. Before, I thought it was normal to have so much shake and movement in my shifter. Now with the poly in, the thing literally sits still and slips in gear much firmer.

OH, and I needa get some pics up of the cutout, Hilton is just being modest with his comments. He did an outstanding job, the entire exhaust tucks up perfectly.

...and it's LOUD

LS1Crazy01:

The mounts are hard to explain. I understand that you are supposed to get more shake and vibration with a more solid mount like this, but honestly I think the factory mounts were just that badly worn, because the engine's seat feels less shakey and more solid.

We're going to put in a pretty big cam in the relative near future. That's why I pestered you into getting the motor mounts. Don't worry... You'll get used to it. Just like the debadging that I hooked you up with.
"Damn that's a fast V6 Camaro"

I could have gotten it done faster if Mark (Koji) hadn't tried to give me alcohol poisoning the night before. At least I wasn't successful in boxing anyone.

Stick with working on Fbodys... the only boxing you need to do is in my shorts!!

Good job guys... maybe now you can install an in-ground sprinkler system... you know just like at STFU Racing...
