removing air pump
i am putting a set of headers on a 02 ss. I know that you have to buy block off plates for the exhaust tubes but what all has to be done do you have to plug any of the lines going to the pump??? What is the pumps purpose

as for the pump i believe you can just remove it. i think the only thing you will have to block is the hole that will be in your air lid. but if you do not have an aftermarket lid i would suggest buying one without the hole.

it pumps air into the cats when the car is cold.... heats them up quicker so they last longer.
if you really want to remove it you should get it tuned out of the computer along with the downstream o2s and egr.... something like ls1edit or hptuners could do this
