Default Is there anything I can do to fix welds that are leaking (exhaust)?

I had my cats welded on last week and they did one of the worst weld jobs I've seen on exhaust work. They are leaking around alot of the weld on both of them since they completly missed the cat at alot of places. Can I try putting on some high temp RTV over the leaks? I don't want to pay twice to have the work done so I'm hoping there is an easy and cheap solution.

The sad thing is the place is a sponsor on here, and they also kept the collector gaskets I paid $30 for to drop the x-pipe, even though they didn't do that like originally stated.

That's unacceptable, I wouldn't have paid for that kind of work. Go back and make them re-weld it and make them install the flanges you gave them. You should have never left that place until it was right......good luck to ya.

I didn't get to see the work before I left or else I would have. And it's a 200 mile round trip so it would be cheaper/faster just to have it fixed locally if that's the only way to have it done.

I have welded much better without a mask on. Just find a buddy or a local shop to re-weld imo. Better to do it right.

I did, I couldn't really get a good look at them since my car is lowered.

Didn't you hear the exhaust leak and wonder whats up? I would call them and talk to the manager. Tell them you want to take the car to have it done right right and they are going to pay for it.

Well they sent me a PM and it looks like they are willing to make things right. They said the welder overheated and wouldn't lay down a bead.

That is some of the worst welds I have ever seen. The welder had to know it was a bad weld before you left. Glad they are going to make it right for you.

They couldn't explain that to you sooner? You know, before you drove home?

Thoes are welds?!?!?!?
If you want a quick fix, nothing JB weld cant do
Go back to the person who welded it and tell them you want it Tig welded, and done right with even bead flow and spacing.

I wish they did, but they are making it worth the drive back there so I'm happy.

Those are horrible! I think you could weld better than that with a car battery, some jumper cables and a clothes hanger!
