SLP lid fitment...
Is it just me or does the SLP lid fit like crap?
I had one on my 2001 Z28 and now I have one on my 2002 Z28...both fit horrible, and one of the clips always pops off...
My friend has a textured lid that just says "LS1" on it and it fits perfect.
I'm thinking of getting rid of this one and finding another brand.....

My SLP lid fits great. If you have a clip that keeps popping off, it sounds like it's not installed right. In between the two clips, the bottom lip should be in front of the lip of the lid. But then on the outside of the clips, the lid goes over the airbox lip. Makes sure the 4 plastic prongs in the back of the lid are all down in the slots too.

I had the original Blackwing lid that came on my hawk and it fit like absolute ****. Just installed the FTP 85mm and the fit is near perfect. I dont have any complaint with this product.

I've never had a problem with the metal clasps releasing with my SLP lid, by the plastic tabs on the rear of the lid never stay in their slots. Every time I open the hoood I have to mess with it to get it back in place. I've considered replacing it, but I don't know what would be better.

again, i heard about the fitting for the SLP but i would go with the fast toys 85mm air lid, but even then i think they all have a little problem with fitting because some owners of the fast toys lid experience problems with closing the hood because of the shape of that one, so its really up to you..

mine will fit if I bang on the piece of sh*t long enough , but I think that it shouldn't be that hard to install a lid. also mine rubs the underside of my hood which is very annoying....

Maybe I'm just lucky an got a good mold but I think most of it is incorrect install. My roommate's "didn't fit" correctly either. I took a look at it and sure enough the front black lip on the lid was not tucked behind the lower air box like it should be. If it isn't tucked back then yes your clips will continue to pop off and it will "not fit". The guy above who took pictures did a good job of showing exactly what I'm talking about.

^ what if the lid doesn't go that far back to tuck behind the lower air box lid?can I cut something for better fitment?
mine will fit flush but will not for any reason sit behind the lower air box... maybe I just need more muscles ? lol
