Installing used FLP headers help!!!
So i bought a set of used flp longtubes and ory and i was told by who i bought them from/shop owner that when installing them to reuse stock gaskets but on the DRIVERS side put a fiber gasket that he gave me on the header meaning on top of stock gasket and he also told me to use high temp. rtv on all gaskets. does this sound right?? is it ok to do??

Help!! I have to know now because if its going to be a problem i will just have to have him install them he said he will charge me $250 he has installed these headers in other car but hes going to a turbo setup so he would know exactly how and what to do to install them with no leaks..... so its either $250 or i ask my buddy if i can use his lift and do it myself.....

yea it does thats why im a little scared now and dont know if i should just let him deal with installing them.... what would be the reason for using two gaskets like that anyway??

i went to auto zone and got a good set of felpro gaskets for like ten bucks and they work fine . i would stay away from using the original gaskets although i've heard of them working. the 10 dollar investment is well worth not having to go back in and replace that **** later.

The only reason to use more than a single gasket is a bad fitting header. The stock GM MLS gaskets should be fine. There are fitment issues is they are not. You should not need any gasket making goop/sealant.
Good Luck.

I think the header flange is probably warped on the driver side header he's trying to sell you. There is no other reason for what he's suggesting.
LS1 cars don't need RTV for header installs either. LT1 headers definitely benefit from it, but not our cars.

nope i saw no warping....?? and i was wondering if i need o2extensions for this header?? the guy at flp told me that since i am no longer going to use the rear o2's that i can use those up front and they're longer so they should reach is this correct??

also i called the person i bought the headers from and asked him why i need to use 2 gaskets on the drivers side and he said that its because every time he had installed those headers they had a problem with the drivers side header??

Its my understanding the rear O2's are the same as the front and are interchangeable as long as they work correctly (the sensor isn't faulty). I'm saving my rears in case my fronts go bad...
