To descreen or not to descreen that is the question?

I say do it. Just removed the screen on my MAF; takes only a few seconds to pull it out. Hard to tell if there was any performance gain, but there should be at least some, seeing how the screen looks to be a pretty significant obstruction to airflow.

try a search because there have been threads on this.
I never descreened mine simply because i didnt think the gain was worth it.
oh and my dealer said he would void my warrenty

I didn't even see the 100 shot of nitrous. Buh-bye warranty if they find out about that.
To address the topic, yes you most definitely should remove the screen. There are no adverse affects. GM recognized their error and they removed them from the factory in the LS6. You'll pick up a few ponies.

the a4 problem is with a fully ported one with the big metal piece removed also. just the screen being removed doesnt hurt. my screen has been out for months without any type of problems at all.

You did a cam swap but you wouldn't descreen your MAF because you were afraid of voiding your warranty?
i now have the Granatelli MAF
BTW what makes you think a cam and dope voids the warrenty

A4 here with descreened maf and the bar removed on the maf housing. First start of the day it wants to hunt for an idle, so i give it a touch of gas for like 2 seconds and the car is fine for the rest of the day. Never had that 'issue' before doing it so i can assume its related

Re: To descreen or not to descreen that is the question?
I just descreened my MAF about 5 minutes ago. No problems whatsoever, no weird noises, nothing. The only thing that was strange was that the first few times I revved the engine and let off it would hold idle at around 1400 for a few seconds. Idle is back to normal now. One more thing, I don't know if it's just psychological or what, but I swear the engine sounds meaner/smoother now. I would say go ahead and do it!
