Default MAF/ throttle body

Alright, I was thinking about putting a bigger throttle body on my '01 LS1 (probably 85mm), but I was wondering. If I put a larger throttle body on my car, do I also have to upgrade my MAF as well? Thanks!

you could always bore it out . i took the blade off my 90mm tb to put a knife edge on it and while having it on my bench i noticed a ported maf end and matched the two up . surprsingly the blade was almost flush with the maf end . just made me wonder a bit .

also wondered is that 500 to the wheel or 500 to the engine ?

Me 3 I'm thinking at the wheels b/c a car putting down 440 at the wheels is making over 500 at the crank.

Does anyone know if there is a significant performance difference between an 85mm and a 90mm throttle body?

unless u have a matching bore intake, there is really no point in larger tb

I doubt it, ive read around here that alot of ppl are still using the stock MAF with countless mod's. I say just stick with the stock one for now, when you start having problems such as "stepping on the gas, then a few seconds later. all the power really kick's in". It's your MAF, mine went to **** a few months back. I gotta new one, but now ima upgrade to either a SLP MAF or RKSport MAF. The new one seem's to be going to **** as well.......

Ok, well I actually do have the problem of the power kicking in a few seconds after I step on the gas but I didn't know what it was. How do I go about fixing that?

Im not sure how you would fix it man, mine was in pretty bad shape. I didnt know my problem either, till my Service Engine Soon light finally came on about a month later. Guy's at Autozone just told me to go ahead and replace it. It should fix all the problem's i was having, which it did but new one seem's to be going the same way as the 1st. Maybe you can start anotha thread about the MAF, and see if anyone give's you any idea's on how to fix it, without having to get a new one.

It's not a bad idea in getting a new MAF though. Get you an SLP MAF for under 200, i think even with shipping from WS6Store.com The RKSport 1 will run you over 300, but it's a No-Restriction MAF.
