Default LS1 intake manifold on 01 LS1 block ?

My brother blew is original motor on his 98 SS and replaced it with a 01 LS1, however the mechanic that install the motor installed the old LS1 intake manifold on the new block, because of the EGR, what kind of effects will this cause on the performance of the new motor, should we just install the LS6 manifold on it?

you can have the egr tuned out of the car but you will need to block off the egr port on the side of the intake manifold, i would say it would be better just to swith the ls1 intake out for the ls6. the ls6 flows better and you can get more power out of it. switching the intake only takes about 2-3 hours at most

Thanks for the advise, I already have the LS6 manifold from the new motor now I wonder if the LS6 coolant lines were left underneath the LS1 manifold.

I'm with this guy, after a couple installs I can swap an intake manifold in barely an hour. I would be pissed if the mechanic did that. He shoulda gotten the manifold.

Thats exactly what im going to do because ever since the new motor was installed i cant get rid of the Check Engine light stating code P0171 so hopefully this will solve everything.now im just going to figure out how to distinguish the difference between coolant lines.
