Default Ridiculous Rattling Pacesetter LT's and Cats, help.

Car: 2000 Camaro SS A4

I have Pacesetter LT's with Magna flow cats welded into my pacesetter ORY and I have had rattling issues with the pacesetters ever since day one(which was over a year ago.) I'm going insane listening to my cats/headers bang on my floor board at idle and while driving, they aren't loose or anything just too close to the floor board. Does anyone have any recommendations for headers that have emissions capability which are stainless steel, stainless is a must because there is often salt on the roads in VA. I know SLP has them but the headers but they are just far too expensive for my taste.

Motor mounts seem to fix all the rattling. There is also an alternate solution and that is a Y hanger which is sold by some of the sponsors here. You can also put un some heat resistant wrap between your pipe and your floor board

Are the poly mounts smaller than stock ones or something? I guess I don't understand why they would stop the rattling.

they are firmer than the stock rubber mounts and therefore dont let the engine, and the headers that are connected to it, move as much

Yes, poly mounts will stop it from banging. I changed them over on my car and I havelt had any issues with banging or rattling. Be prepared for some real fun on the mount install. I would rather change the cam back to back than do that again. Then again I did do it without taking the starter or headers off. Have fun! The Mufflex bump-stop may work, but it will definately need some convincing to get it to fit over the oval pipe under the drivers seat.

If you didn't like the poly mount install; try installing solid mounts in your driveway laying on your back. Headers had to come out, but starter did not. Yeah, it was an experience. I hated it almost as much as swapping a clutch in my driveway laying on my back.

Slipping a piece of heater hose between the pipe and the body will keep it from banging. As for stainless headers Ive been looking into LPP's, ive been hearing some good things so far.

Today I went underneath my car and found one of the heat shields on the drivers side was loose. I bolted that back in and the rattling stopped. Now as far as the Y pipe bang i will need to fix that as soon as my heat wrap arrives
