This happen on my 06 TBSS anot 2 months ago and the dealer said that the sending unit went bad. It is not bad if you plan on doing the job by not taking out the fuel tank and cutting a hole on the top truck panel to remove the whole unit. There is a link somewhere about replacing a fuel pump in a f-body that would be real helpful if you plan on did this yourself.

Haha welcome to the f-body fuel gauge issue haha...

On my old LT1 the gauge used to stay on full for the first 100-120 miles or so...then everything went downhill after that mark haha...

Then on the LS1, it barely stays at full... dunno whats going on with that lol..

I just go by the miles driven instead of that damn gas needle!!

mine is very "notchy". it will stay over full for about 100 then drop to full...hover around full for 50 or so then drop to halfway between full and 3/4. it'll do that all the way until 1/4 and then read nice and smooth all the way to empty........
......
......
beats me....

It has to do with the way it is programed. It is programmed to lie about how much is in the tank. Plus it checks the fuel level alot less often while the tank is full.

I still have problems with filling the tank while empty. It takes 10+ minutes for the gauge to go to full unless I restart the car.

me 2; only slightly tho, it just started to happen but it might be b/c the car sat for like 5 months (or maybe since it has been so long since i drove it i forgot how it acts) lol. Even though i put fuel stablizer in it i'm wondering of some sediment is on the sending unit. I know that fuel system cleaner cleans it so i will try that after my oil change.

mine would always read PAST FULL till about 60 miles (heavy foot) or so then jump to 3/4 of a tank full. nature of the beast i think. Unless it totally takes a dump or still reads full after 100+ miles, i wouldn't worry

yeah also the odd shape of the tank doesn't help. its a triangle shape and its on an angle so it makes sense that it will hang at or around full until it starts to work its way to a lower fluid level where the fuel level will drop faster.
