Default Cat-back or replace Stock Muffler?

Im looking for more sound and a little bit more power. I dont plan on any major mods at all, just very minor bolt ons. Right now the car has a SLP lid w/ K&N filter and thats it.

Is it worth it to purchase a cat-back system say the SLP loudmouth or the magnflow or would just replacing the stock muffler do just fine.

Get the cat back. It's easier to cut off all the old crap and install a cat back then try to replace just the muffler. Do some searching before you make a choice. Lots of people choose the LM1 and then get sick of it - especially if you decide to get headers down the road.

if you get the magnaflow you will have a stainless steel system. this will be a purchase for the long run because it wont rust.

i would definitely go catback, simply because of fit and finish, just figure out which sound you like best, since car is stock i am gonna assume you dont want something loud and obnoxious so steer clear of the loudmouth

X2. Pick up a little flow with a good catback and and stay away from LM if you ever plan headers. LM + headers = rasp.

Go SLP LM if you plan on keeping your stock exhaust... otherwise, if you plan on LT's/ORY get something that has an actual muffler.... I.E. magnaflow, corsa, borla, etc...

No joke there. I have headers ORY and LM1 with another muffler in front of it.

Car sounds awesome at idle but way too loud any other time. It is perfect for the track but sucks otherwise. [light cheap power]

I am 100% sure I have some hearing loss. I have had this setup for one year since March and now I am having to swap out to something quieter.

It was awesome till I had to drive the car a long distance daily.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll probably go with a cat-back. Corsa or the magnaflow.

The SS and the WS6 have a 2.75" catback from the factory. You use a
Magnaflow #14267 stainless muffler that will replace the factory muffler.
Magnaflow told me that it flows over 900cfm. And it only cost $120.00
Unless you plan on running big heads/cam or FI you can just change the muffler
and keep the stock pipes. I seen a SS A4 with mild heads, ZO6 cam, Vig.3600 stall,
and stock exhaust manifolds run high 11.8's with only the muffler changed. It just all
depends on the setup.

just to let you know you will gain no power from a catback vs a muffler because it is allready necked down to 2 5/8 at the end of the y pipe. So go from there but remember there will be no gain.

Weld a Magnaflow in where the stock muffler goes. Its easy, cheap, and is gonna last any way. Get a cutout if you need additional flow, like at the track.

Yet you hit it on the head...going with the magnaflow #14267 or
the dynomax ultra flow is another excellent choice. I believe that
dynomax makes a stainless version of their ultra flow for our cars.
A local dealer from me sells both muffler brands but i'm thinking of
just going with the magnaflow muffler myself. I know a guy that
changed just his muffler with the magnaflow and it not only sounded
better you could feel the extra hp that it made. Plus i love the stealth
look of stock pipes. People think you are stock

Well, they no longer believe my Camaro is stock, but I did this with it and with my GMC Sierra. Made a world of difference. My Sierra just has cheap OBX long tubes and the Magnaflow welded into the stock catback and it is one of the best sounding - and best running - 5.3L daily drivers in my area. It sounds great.
