So if an MAF makes you run leaner...
So if an aftermarket MAF makes you run leaner and long tubes make you run richer, wouldn't the two sort of cancel each other out for the msot part when it comes to air/fuel ratio?
Sorry if I am horribly mistaken!

My GMS MAF sensor did not make my car run leaner (and it wasn't designed to do so.) My QTP headers didn't make it run leaner either.
Just food for thought.

Re: So if an MAF makes you run leaner...
With my mods and last dyno run I landed on 13.8/1 A/F, which I was told was good.
I'm guetting NOS 125 shot soon. By talking the HPP3 power tune off for N20 spray, what should be my A/F??

Sharky, I don't know the answer to your question, but I suggest that you do before you go spraying that thing. 13.8:1 is lean even for NA (I'd want no leaner than 13.3:1) but that spells disaster for running nitrous.

um..... I'm pretty sure 13.8:1 is rich...14.7:1 is stoehic.....anything 15.0:1 and higher is leaner........13.8 really isnt lean...but ideal for our ls1's and ls6's is about 13.1:1-13.8:1....but if you spray..go way rich cause the spray leans you out....

Re: So if an MAF makes you run leaner...
you n/a guys are looking for 12.9 ish for best power and 14.7 is best for efficiency (part throttle cruising etc.)
a screwed up maf will not send the correct signal to the computer to indicate the correct airflow.. if you put an uncalibrated maf on the car like an ls6 maf or a truck maf or any aftermarket maf or any ported/descreened stock maf theres no telling exactly what you will get going to the computer unless you can calibrate for it in the computer (edit)
the ones going lean are from the stock electronics being used (and not recalibrated) in a larger housing.. larger housing allows more air past the resistors than it is calibrated for.. more unmeasured air in the engine means less fuel gets injected... which means lean.

Soundengineer, you're talking about part throttle cruising efficiency. Sharky was speaking about on the dyno and also about when using nitrous both of which are done at WOT. Stoichiometric has nothing to do with WOT mixture. 13.8:1 is REALLY on the lean side for even NA power at WOT Not kinda on the lean side. I mean REALLY on the lean side to the point that you're missing some power. Now, try that while running nitrous and you could be sporting some nice new holes in the tops of your pistons. It would be better to get that mixture to about 12:1 for nitrous.
