Looking for a tip on CME removal:
I have a busted CME on a 2002 SS (not a warranty repair) that I need to remove and weld. The 90 degree exhaust elbows appear to be compressed by the clamp and don't want to come off. Does anyone have clever way to remove the pipes without destruction, as I'd like to be able to reuse them? The only thought I have is to cut a few 1/2" tracks along the pipe with a dremel to gain some relief/play.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Looked at this myself and came up with the same
basic conclusion - slit for crush relief, and
then pull a little at a time with a chain fall.
Or, tie 'em to a tree, put it in Low and nail
the throttle
Saw somebody's pictures a while back who had not
only welded the original web, but added a piece
of aluminum bar across the back of the bells for
more robustness. Welding up that skinny bit of
casting is only going to make it as "strong" as
it was (and it broke once).

Re: Looking for a tip on CME removal:
I busted mine two and they replace the first under warranty and the second they got a good welder to fix it right and it has not broke yet 1 1/2 and still going. but a muffler shop can heat it up and twist it off.
