Try the flanges, or try the aluminum foil trick (wrap al foil a couple times around then use the band clamps). You'll be really sorry later if you have to remove your exhaust, and it is all welded up!

Search isn't working for me. Not too long ago someone posted about these:

Basically you weld the supplied flanges to your collector and Y pipe and then that V clamp mates the collector and Y perfectly.

I'm using those Dynatech clamps in my exhaust from the headers to the Y and at the back. What I found is metal to metal will not give 100% seal. But Mr.Gasket makes graphite sheets with metal mesh in it that you can cut circle gaskets out of. I put those in my clamps and it is 100% tight.

I have mine welded because I bought a used set that was previously welded and didn't have all the clamps. It's not a big deal, unless you're removing your exhaust constantly. It's easy enough to cut and weld again if you have to remove it.

I agree. I welded my td's to the headers after trying lots of different clamps that eventually leaked. I didn't really want to do it, but in reality the only time you would need to remove your exhaust is if you need to pull the trans or cyl heads. Like was mentioned above, just make a clean cut and weld again.

Band clamps suck! Just buy the gasket material and cut. That way you can take stuff apart if need be. In my case I may have to swap a catted Y in later so just pull it down and throw the other up in place.

Hate to see you weld them. Here is the material to make nice gaskets that will not leak. I should just punch them out and sell them here for all V-Band users.

I had mine welded after years of RTV, foil, graphite and clamps from summit, stainless works and NAPA. No leaks now!
