The shiny stuff! I dunno i had mne off i couldnt really see anything without removing rod bolts which you need new ones to put back in. I checked for alot of play in the rods and anything that looked like it shouldnt be. I'm not an engine builder either lol.

What year is your car? If its early, you might think about upgrading rod bolts depending on how high you like to spin

Do you ave 241 heads or 853 heads? If you have 241 heads like my late 2000 engine then you already have upgraded rod bolts

It has 853 heads.

Going to be replacing them soon with some 317's.

Well then you might want to upgrade the rod bolts. I dont see you spining much higher than 6500rpm with a turbo setup though so it may be a semi-wasted endeavor.

Do it if you plan on spinning the motor to the moon. If not, your call

Expect the oil deflector LOL. Is the motor still in the car? Is the motor out of the car? Quite a few things you can do to upgrade the block whether the engine is in or out...it just depends.

Well Everything looked good in the bottom end.

I replaced the oil pump o ring while I was at it.

I have an automatic so i dont plan on having it shift past 6k. So I left the rod bolt alone for now. From what I could see the piston walls looked ok, didnt see anything wierd.
