Default 6.0 LQ4 Cam choice?? L92 heads/L76 intake

Looking for some cam suggestions for a 6.0 LQ4 iron block. It will have reprogrammed PCM (no emissions) L92 heads, L67 intake. What would be a good cam choice? Looking for strong mid range power/torque. Mostly want a good "all around" cam.

Am currently considering a 228/232 LSA 114

Thoughts?

Good choice. I've had great success with cams in that range. My favorite for L92 headed 6.0L is a 226/232 .609/.604 114LSA cam.

I havent seen much on L92 headed LQ4's. Ive heard its hard to get the compression ratio right, idk.

I have an LQ4 that I was thinking of putting an L92 head and cam combo. I want max horsepower and torque without flycutting and using a GM MLS stock thickness head gasket. This would likely be through a fast 90 or 92 intake manifold although would consider the l76 intake too.

Fast 90 or 92 won't work with l92's, if i'm right.

Youre right, but FAST is almost ready to sell a Fast 102mm intake. They should have one out this winter!!!

Im considering a TSP 5.3L stg 2.5 heads with a nice cam. Id like to see some 1/4mile times with a stock bottom end LQ4!!!

Man they keep pushing, they'll have 3 different intakes out if not more by the time the Weiand comes out lmfao

Although I don't really consider the fast 90 really a "different" intake then the 92.

This 102 is interesting though. Hopefully the runners will have a slightly larger cross section though!

l76 is the only intake choice I think because of the different port of a l92. There are always sheetmetal intakes though$$$

Right and Right. But FAST is almost ready to release the FAST102 for rectangular port intakes. Id assume that it would be out by spring which is around when I plan to run. Im not dead set on a L92 setup, just weighing my options for my Stock LQ4.

Don't have the L92 heads on my LQ4... but here's a graph with my baby cam (224/224 .581 114lsa) and a set of AFR 205's milled to 59cc...

Nice numbers for that cam. Could you have ran anything bigger without flycutting?? Whats your compression ratio?

ive yet to see a LPE GT11 cam actuating a set of l92 heads
but i have always thought it would make for a killer street combo
on a 370ci 10.75:1 motor
guess i got start working on it.
dam ls3 intake is the only good one right now if im not mistaken

yea I could have went bigger... I was on a budget during this build and came across this used cam (had like 200 miles on it) for about half the price of a new one... plus, at the time I wasn't necessarily wanting a HUGE cam in it anyways... i needed to get used to the power one small step at a time...

eventually I might bump it up to a 228 cam or even 232 somewhere in that range... I'll upgrade to a 92/92 setup, and maybe even some larger diameter exhaust... gonna try and get as close to 500 as possible. Then I figure I'll be satisfied... gotta say though, I'm pretty satisfied where it's at right now

oh... and I'm running right around 11.2:1 compression...

yup... stock bottom end

funniest part is, I'm still on the stock injectors

but as you can see from the graph below, my A/F is right on the whole way

Oh cool I learned something. And thats another intake to get to market before a weiand street warrior that will never be found on the streets.

Back on topic, what kinda compression ratio would be optimal for said cam??

Wonder what kind of power this setup is making!!

The L92s don't seem to tolerate as much compression as cathedral port heads so I'd say 10.5:1 is ideal for 91 octane and you could run around 10.8:1 with 93 octane.

Power gains depend on exhaust setup and intake manifold choice.
