799 head casting
The 799's came on some Ls2's (Corvettes, TBSS and others). Some owners report their vehicles had a 243 on one bank and a 799 on the other from the factory???
Right now new (or used) 799's don't have the "prestige" associated with the 243 castings. Therefore they are not as highly sought after.
Allegedly, the prototype head castings for the Ls6 engine were 799's.
There is a lot of "hot air" about which casting is better and/or worse. Haven't seen any real dyno tests yet. Have seen lots of "half a$$ed" opinions.
In any event, GM sold 405(?) HP Ls2 engines having both 243 and 799 head casting nos.
Google "GM 799 head casting" -- there's a great thread on one of the Corvette forums.

As far as i know the LS2 heads are the same as an LS6 head except the LS2's
don't have the hollow stem valves and sodium filled exhaust valves. GM is pretty smart and they knew they had a good head for the 6.0 liter LS2 motor.
GM's valves flow pretty good but i heard of people replacing the LS2 valves with Manley Pro-Flow valves on the intake side and they flow more than 270cfm and that's before any porting or milling. Really a trick setup...just pop in a good cam, headers, cat-back and HELLO mid 11's
