Default Why is my car going through oil

Seems like my car is going through oil pretty quick lately. I have added a quart and half probably 3-4 times since the end of september. Seems like its always low after I race it. After last time of adding oil I have only made 3 passes and 2-3 weeks of DD duty. This kind of concerns me it never use to be like this. What could be going on here?

compression test, leak-down check, check the PCV valve. This would get you started.

If your hanging in the upper RPM range, the rings flutter and there is just a little blow by. That's what they said with my 2000 LS1..... before I had the dealer rering it

What is pcv valve? Only thing I have noticed is one of the hoses on driver side valve cover has dry rotted. I thought it might have been from racing but I havent been racing in a while.

Have you checked under the car for oil leaks?

Replace that rotted hose on the valve cover

take off your throttle body and check for oil. i know oil blows into the pcv line and into the top of the throttle body. i was getting a lot of oil consumption that way. then i put a small vent filter on the valve cover and put a cap on the fitting on top of the throttle body. and no more oil consumption.

but like stated before you could be getting a lot of blowby past the rings. does your car smoke a lot under full throttle? that could be your case.

Are you using mobil 1? My car would eat it up also. Could be valve seals or blowby.

I was thinking valve seals also. I think a catch can would help but thats not the source of the problem.

I would check out the entire PCV system for other bad hoses & you may want to replace the valve as well.
The sytem may just need servicing ,could save you a lot of time and money.
Good luck, I hope it's something that simple.

weird that you are consuming that much oil and no smoke.
